Putin: Let them eat seeds

Sanctions have weighed heavily on Russia since last year. The value of the ruble plunged and the availability of goods have decreased. While the Russian government has stabilized the economic crisis via interest rate policy and sales of commodity production to non-traditional trading partners like China, many Russians continue to suffer. Food shortages have increased the demand for vegetable seeds, Russians are growing vegetables instead of flowers in their gardens these days as food has become scare. In my latest piece for Seeking Alpha I opine whether seed demand in Russia could be sowing the seeds of discontent as food shortages have taken down many governments throughout history.
